researching pride flags can be a very interesting process... tried to find out more about a sketch of a flag from a published book on queer symbols, found myself on an archive's pinterest page (which I was obviously dubious about using) and had to hunt down their catalogue to find the OG sketch(es!)

Very excited to get a lot of advertisements for bear-related consumer goods because of my research into the bear pride flag for this chapter

One of the not so fun aspects of a big research project I wasn't prepared for was realising that, no matter how well you plan your primary source base prior to the writing process, you're not going to be able to foreesee or plan for everything.

Curious what top surgery looked like in the 1930s? Surprisingly similar to today.
I found this photo in medical archives holding the English edition of the Plastic Surgery Atlas, v. 3. It shows an intersex man who underwent a double mastectomy nearly a century ago.

I have been rereading (and partially rewriting) the first chapter I wrote for my thesis over the last few days to revisit some ideas for a book chapter contribution and it's amazing how much more confident my writing is two chapters later in comparison

Republicans just removed Miami Beach's famous pride crosswalks. They could have painted them, but instead used bulldozers to destroy the bricks. Pride crosswalks are a tiny, symbolic gesture. But they are still important symbols of the political climate.
