Hi Kiki
What is your Alright Granddad opinion - the one you already know you’ll still be boring people with when you’re 70? (Mine is that planned engineering work on railways should not take place at weekends.)

The key is to raise taxes enough to actually be able to do something with it, beyond placating the OBR and bond markets
Breaking the tax pledge is the right call...and politically sulphurous. Reeves must argue, far more forcefully, that taxes are *the* essential downpayment we all pay for a fairer society.

If Labour want a fairer society, they must argue for it
Labour must make the political argument: taxes are the critical downpayment we all pay to live in a fairer society.  It now seems all but certain that direct taxes will rise in the forthcoming Budget...

What's it like being retired?

I live mostly on croissants and latte.
I spend a lot of time finding good places for coffee and latte.
I will never be put into syndicate again.

Crikey. I’m not sure I’m the right person to ask as I’ve only lived here for two years, but there’s plenty to do and you can certainly find some lovely places along the coast. The downside is the scarcity and high cost of accommodation—and healthcare—though that’s a problem with Ireland generally.

A small copper on our Joe Pie. Apparently the reason it's here is that it's caterpillars love dock which we're infested with and which I was planning to get rid of. It's a tangled web.

Back from a few days pm Arran. Eagles. Hen harriers, deer and red squirrels, stone circles, cairns and standing stones and high seas. Triffic.

It's a big deadheading time for gardeners. Monday I deadheaded my left index finger. It can make things a bit awkward. Today I sliced my left middle finger cutting a red pepper 🌶️. Blood everywhere. My left hand knows what my right hand is doing, it's asserting it's dominant position.
