It might be easy to find things like this merely petty or superficial, but that would be a mistake. Demeaning, erasing or eliminating celebrations or acknowledgments of Black America is straight from Redemption playbook, and is intended to reinforce the racial hierarchy and signal its reinstatement.

I can't believe the guy who wrote a book complaining about how the US doesn't commit enough war crimes would order the military to commit war crimes.
GOP Rep. Don Bacon: "I don't think Secretary Hegseth would be foolish enough to make this decision to say, 'Kill everybody. Kill the survivors,' because that's a clear violation of the law of war."

They've got to be taking advantage of some kind of renewable energy incentive loophole. This is a highway rest stop in the middle of nowhere, over a mile from anything resembling an amenity.

More solar, and storage for that power, is a good thing but this is also an insane number of plugs.

I think folks are failing to articulate that it's a generational thing.

Clinton, W, Trump, Biden are all about the same age. So are most of the losing candidates - Gore, Kerry, Romney, HRC.

Obama and Harris are the outliers being born after 1950.
I hate that like the internet has nuked people's brains, I saw someone bitching about "why is the President ALWAYS! like 90!"

Obama was in his 40s, so was Bill Clinton, W was 54, just in the last 10 years have Presidents been old (and people could have voted for the 59 year old)

Ok so, priorities. But the premise is correct. Paper towels are better. Hand dryers are for cheapskates who don't want to pay people to take out the trash and refill the machines.
At this point, the Washpost edit page is just trolling its readers.

This is today's actual house editorial.

This is a vital conversation to be having re: equity in sports. If you want a professional sports league to thrive, there needs to be a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow.

The WNBA doesn't provide that.
For @msmagazine.com, I wrote about the WNBA and the issue of pay equity. By the time the WNBA was only two seasons in (1999-2000) the average NBA salary was 58 times higher than the average WNBA salary. Twenty-six years later, the gap has jumped to 116 times higher.

Kyle Kingsbury is not a journalist. He is not an op-ed writer.

He is a computer safety researcher.

And he has written one of the most compelling, comprehensive accounts of the ongoing hell in Chicago that you could possibly imagine.

In under 1600 words.

Again, not the most important here, but I'm begging for a journalist to figure out how/why NPS put up a Confederate statue DURING A GOVERNMENT SHUTDOWN. How is this "essential" when food stamps are not?
Feels symbolic that a Confederate statue first installed in 1901, at the peak of the consolidation of the Jim Crow system—when the states of the former Confederacy were in the midst of revising their constitutions to disfranchise Black citizens—has been reinstalled.

Saw four brutal attack ads against Mikie Sherrill watching football yesterday and one middling ad against her opponent.

They're just not going to win a war of negative ads at this rate and really need to offer a clear vision from Sherrill of who she really is and what she actually wants to do.

Disney has backed down, but there's no evidence that Sinclair or Nexstar have learned their lesson.

If you haven't already done so, check the links in the thread below for stations in your area. Find the advertisers and let them know you're boycotting them until they remove ads from these stations.
Luckily, Sinclair has a helpful database of all their stations, so you can see if they're operating in your area and respond accordingly.
