Yeah this headline should have been -

"Sex workers catch sex pest red-handed, but police refuse to charge"

The audio recordings may not have been technically illegal, but stalking people inside their homes certainly is. Appalling the police haven't charged this.

Appreciation to the sex workers for talking to me because they knew this was in the public interest.

And I think we need to have a conversation about some of the wider issues here.

These people were following the law and went to check in with immigration like they are supposed to.

This woman's immigration case was dismissed, which made her immediately undocumented.

So ICE took her into custody.

The air conditioning was off in the back of the truck.

“Yes, NZ govt is currently spending more than it earns. But, given wealthiest NZ’ers pay 1/2 the tax rate of we average folk, best way to close gap is to increase tax rates at the upper end. Instead, we have govt that – lest we forget – is still handing out $2.9bn in tax cuts to landlord” #nzpol
A budget for machines, not midwives
The centrepiece of the budget may makes sense on its own terms, but when contrasted with what's not being funded, it's telling.

Budget 2025 is a disaster for our environment. Conservation investment is MIA while 75% of native species face extinction. The Govt is gambling with $133B in natural assets and our economy. This is environmental neglect, not leadership. We demand better.

No nature, no economy: Budget 2025 misses the $133b point
Forest & Bird says the Government’s lack of investment in New Zealand’s environment in Budget 2025 is deeply concerning given the importance of the environment to our economy and society.

"If we tax the rich they may leave the country!" is such bullshit. Most of the wealth of the rich is tied up in property. Now it has been a while since I travelled but I don't remember luggage allowances being THAT generous.

Last night, a tent where Gazan journalists were staying was bombed. A journalist caught fire and burned alive in front of dozens of people who couldn’t save him.

His horrific death is one of more than 50,000 since the war began, and over 1,000 since the ceasefire collapsed 20 days ago. (1/2)
