Many Americans are hurting right now because of the shutdown, but caving to Republicans won’t end the hurt.
Trump and his lapdogs continue to assert that they alone have the power to slash whatever programs they don’t like.
Deals with this regime are meaningless.

@housedemocrats.bsky.social, please do not give up this shut-down fight! The Senate is not seeing the forest for the trees here: millions of children and adults will lose health insurance if you do not stay the course. Losing health insurance means losing life, liberty, and any hope of happiness.

Did you know that in Canada, if a budget doesn’t pass the government doesn’t shut down?
Federal workers aren’t furloughed.
Funding for social services doesn’t dry up.
Failure to pass a budget triggers an election.
It puts the politicians jobs on the line.
They get the budget passed.

Much like 2024, Democrats seem to think there’s a binary choice in the 2026 election between voting for Republicans (evil) and voting for Democrats (feckless).
They rarely acknowledge the third option which inevitably harms them the most: staying home.

80% of Democratic voters want a new leader in the Senate.
Does that matter at all to Democratic senators?

This is just literally fucking insane. If Trump is doing it to get his violence in the streets, he’s going to succeed because even I feel like breaking shit.
