We say we want uplifting media, but our revealed preferences tell another story. We often pick darker, more intense content. This @npr.org piece covers our lab’s research on why, and includes great advice from @aeden.bsky.social on building intentional media habits.

All I want in life is to persuade everyone, when encountering politics & culture, to ask, "why are we talking about this?" I mean that very literally: anything you encounter on your screens reflects a choice. Someone covered that, talked about that, rather than the many other things out there. Why?

Without the flexible scheduling of community college I wouldn’t have been able to complete the first step of my academic career. Great @nytimes.com article about how recent ed challenges affect CC and hurt communities and people who depend on them.
A community college trained my dad as a heavy equipment mechanic. A community college helped me, a working-class kid with no clue, transfer to a university. Community colleges launched friends into trades and college degrees; pathways to opportunity are now at risk www.nytimes.com/2025/08/04/m...

Rewording my earlier post.

RFK Jr will be testifying before Congress.

I am interested in what experts and others think would be the best way to leverage this time and opportunity for the public good.

If you were behind the dais for this hearing, what would you do? What do you want to see asked?

Go to top paper panels in other divisions.
Go to business meetings, those are the room(s) where it happens.
Go to at least 1 random panel for fun.
Hydrate, especially in Denver with high elevation.
Buy snacks for your room.
Have fun.
