As of today, a new term has entered our language. A “rubio” is a spineless lump of nothing. Example: Don’t be such a rubio.

To be fair, it is hard to stay sober in these graceless times... I don't drink but sometimes I wish I did... I love diet coke.

Both IPV and OPV are incredible. They saved millions of lives & spared millions more from a lifetime of hardship & pain. So I don’t tolerate bullshit about these vaccines being unsafe, causing cancer (gtfoh, armchair SV40 experts), or polio being a normal childhood illness.

Because it isn’t true.

I don't understand people who leave their home in the morning to go get coffee.

How do you manage to get out of bed, get dressed, and make it to the coffee shop without caffeine? 🤔😂

On my first visit to NYC after the pandemic, the outdoor dining everywhere was the biggest, most obvious positive change to the city. It felt neighborly, relaxing, and so New York. Like a city you could stroll in and enjoy. The senseless destruction of all this beautiful space for people is so sad.
Thanks to Eric Adams and the New York City Council, Simple Loaf on 5th Ave in Brooklyn went from having a beautiful outdoor dining setup with space for more than a dozen patrons to having space for parking two cars.

When the time comes for us to ride, instead of doing it at dawn can we maybe ride at 10:30-ish?

Roasted chicken hearts and chicken livers. Sautéed cabbage and roasted assorted mushrooms to go with.

There is a delicious beauty to safflower oil, kosher salt, freshly ground tellicherry peppers, garlic, onions, coriander, a splash of red wine, and fenugeek when it comes to offal.

Gonna try another old-Twitter-style thread, since the last one got a lot of engagement. This time about a topic some people have raised, but needs more attention: the likelihood that Trump's tariffs will become an engine of immense corruption 1/

Pardoning the Jan 6 defendants would send a dangerous message about political violence, vigilante justice, and the rule of law. More in my new note for @cafedotcom.
Note from Barb: Unpardonable
Donald Trump's promise of pardons for the Jan. 6 defendants is not just unwarranted—it would make one of America’s darkest days even darker.

OK, here's my first attempt at the kind of thread I used to do on the hellsite. At a guess, the first place we'll really see the economic impact of Trumpism will be from mass deportation — and it will be worse than many people, even macroeconomic modelers, imagine 1/
