I wasn't a fan of Merrick Garland in the end because he acted like a child cowering in the corner rather than do his duty and seek to hold the Orange Felon accountable for his conduct. But at least Garland wasn't actively undermining the rule of law and the US's reputation before the world.
Firing everyone who could tell you what you're doing is unethical or illegal does not make what you're doing ethical or legal.

Wrong, David. It stopped being too early to say the USA is in a constitutional crisis when an unrepentant felon violated Section 3 of the 14th Amendment on January 6, 2021. The Orange Monster was never held properly accountable. And look where we are today.
