Hunger isn’t inevitable; it’s a choice. USDA can act today to prevent SNAP benefit delays for November, but families are still waiting. @USDAgov @SecRollins you have the authority. Use it. @FRAC

By deleting a few imp words from the E&C bill, the reconciliation bill the Hse Rules cmte is likely to advance creates an unconscionable decision for states: end health coverage for lawfully residing immigrant kids & pregnant adults or face steep federal Medicaid funding cuts.

Current law already bars people without a documented immigration status from food assistance through #SNAP. And many people with lawful immigration statuses are also barred including adults who are lawful permanent residents in their first five years in the U.S.

Let’s start w/ the bill’s failure to deliver for families on the #ChildTaxCredit – 17 million kids today do not get the full $2,000 max credit b/c their families don’t earn enough – these are parents who drive delivery trucks, clean offices, care for the elderly, etc.

The House Ways and Means tax bill released today is skewed in favor of rich people, is even more costly than the original 2017 law, and fails to deliver for working-class families and small businesses.

This is true even though W&M passed a bill last yr to increase the credit for the vast majority of these 17M kids, and 169 Rs voted for it. But today, they are leaving 1 in 4 kids <17 with nothing from their signature bill.

House W&M bill does nothing for the ~17M kids currently left out of the $2,000 max credit b/c their families’ earnings are too low. Temp. raising the max to $2,500 gives them $0 or zilch, but delivers an additional $500-per-kid to higher-income families.

Senator, I've been a supporter for many years, but I will say this - if you do not vote no on Cloture, then you will have lost my support for good. My vote may not be worth much to you, but I will do all I can to make sure that any future office you run for is an uphill battle. And I won't be alone.
