Isn’t there enough cleared land already?
Why is this new Suncable proposal not in the spotlight?

Clearing 493km2(ie 49,300ha) including 360km2 of bilby habitat with 53 sites identified where bilbies present/likely present?

Submissions close 25 November.

The federal government only wanted to help South Australia with the algal bloom if it did not require new funding despite being briefed that an estimated 250k marine animals had been killed, new documents obtained through FOI reveal.

‘Not an eligible disaster’: FOI reveals Commonwealth resisted new aid for SA after algal bloom killed 250,000 marine animals
The documents, obtained under Freedom of Information, show Australia’s lack of preparedness for unexpected and extreme events driven by climate change and the limits of existing support programs.

It’s a horrible way to die and it wasn’t only cows. Most of the fire complex was on other land tenures.
Why isn’t this a national scandal? Instead the cattle industry has just taken the insurance money, restocked, told everyone else to do better, kept on clearing releasing more GHGs, and opposed regulation of highly flammable invasive pasture grasses like buffel.

The fire threatened communities, destroyed more than 3,500km of fencing and cost the NT's cattle industry an estimated $120 million.
