Independent environmental advocate in central Australia, living on unceded Arrernte lands. I have a particular interest and experience in water and concern about invasives, persecution of dingoes and bad laws/policy.

😢 ‘but with so many simultaneous ignitions I do wonder how they could possibly sense which way to run, hop or fly to safety.’

Hmmmm. The third greatest cause of threats to threatened taxa is in charge of managing the first biggest threat.

Our national biosecurity system protects environmental assets worth $5.7 trillion, 1.6m jobs, ag, forestry and fisheries exports worth $75.6b international tourism worth $50b. Yet responsibility for biosecurity sits with Ag Mins who hand review over to a meat industry doyen. Results are predictable.

These centre pivots near 80 Mile Beach intercepting groundwater discharging from the Canning Basin at the western end of 80 Mile Beach in the Pilbara for high energy, unnecessary and environmentally degrading cattle production says too much about where this ends.

About 86% of the clearing (283,918ha) was for the expansion of pasture and 77% (254,647ha) was category X clearing, which means it did not require a permit under the state’s vegetation management laws. The Brigalow and Mulga Lands regions were clearing hotspots

Another way Australia is being coerced into filling the pockets of billionaires. Stock prices for the biggest recipients of Australia’s defence spending are sky high! (Lockheed Martin less so but sure they’re working on it!! (Source: www.crikey.com.au/2025/06/04/a...)

On a day of sadness and turmoil following Kumanjayi White’s death, with a massive turn out for a vigil in the Coles carpark is Alice Springs, the chief minister is laughing and joking around in Darwin. Zero care.

Reneging on promised Ranger funding yet $40m more to NT Police, $60m for Corrections and $181 million for Territory "gas roads"!

NT's incarceration rate is second only to El Salvador.

Locking up people and country we get sicker.

This is dystopian.

The West Australian owned by Kerry Stokes’ sordid election editorial- apparently the ALP “secretly worked away on outrageous environmental laws never mentioned” only stopped by the “exceptional journalism” of The West and The Nightly’.

NT candidates Dingo Protection Election scorecard.

Great to see commitment from Greens and our great local First Nations candidates.

Crickets from the major parties.

NT Buffel Election scorecard.

Vote Greens or independents for action on buffel.

The ALP has no strategy/commitment and the coalition is worse.

What a genius. This Media Release is nonsense. We need on ground work AND policy advocacy. It’s not an either/ or situation.

The cost of buffel invasion based on remediation like Landcare puts the annual cost of buffel invasion in the hundreds of millions.

A little advocacy can go a long way.

Not a shred of taking responsibility for or demonstrating care about the massive impacts on ecosystems and people. As usual.

Reminds me of that noisy group that show up late to a concert, set themselves up in the front and talk and belch all the way through.

Stumbled upon this evil genius fossil fuel marketing. A free flexi disc with Dolly magazine circa 1974!

NT Environment Minister announces he’s defunding Arid Lands Environment Centre and Environment Centre NT to the CLP friendly NT News where the story is locked behind a paywall.

No media release. No accountability.

Not surprising given he’s defunding those who make him accountable.

What an incredible failure of leadership that won’t be forgotten.

“Plans for a federal environment protection agency have been shelved indefinitely after the prime minister, Anthony Albanese, intervened once again to quell a backlash in Western Australia.”

Amazed - 6 months on from buffel weed declaration in the NT there are still NO road signs. (The signs pictured here are from SA.)

Signs are an education opportunity. There are also responsibilities under the Weeds Act about transport, spread and reporting. These need to be communicated.
