I remain deeply unconvinced that trying to go fully explicit Looting Imperialism on the rest of the hemisphere is going to play well for these people

unfortunately for everyone in the western hemisphere, they do not appear to care about the opinion of anyone except the twitter nazis

the operation itself - despite nearly across the board media cheerleading - is polling at 40/42 here, which is pretty terrible for what is likely its high water mark, and a large majority think Congress should have been involved

Jamelle Bouies observation yesterday about Republicans is correct. Our entire fucking country is stuck in this black hole of dysfunctional suck bc Republicans have abdicated any and all interest in being anything like an actual political party. bsky.app/profile/jame...
yep. i can identify any number of structural issues but at the end of the day the basic problem is the republican party. this has been apparent for at least 20 years. it is also an incredibly unpopular observation to make among “serious” people.
Right.

If you want a good explanation of why the American system of government worked well enough for 200 years and then suddenly stopped, it's because Republicans in Congress suddenly started letting their partisan interests COMPLETELY override their institutional interests

When you come into the mentions of others trying to actively participate in their democracy, who are trying to encourage others to do the same, and tell them their efforts are worthless, you're a saboteur.

Pure and simple. Ask yourself why you want to do this, if you really oppose Trump.

Oh you’ve had the stunning original insight that Republicans are a depersonalized force of nature and Democrats are the responsible adults we *should* be able to trust to fix nature, I guess? Even though more of us decided not to vote to fix things at all, or voted in favor of the destructive force?

BlueSky continues to be very good at ignoring the fact that the Democrats are not in the majority in Congress.

As I've been saying for years to others "Both sides are the same" or "All Politicians are corrupt" only serves to run cover for those that are worse at the expense of those that are better.

Far too many times did the person saying such things also come with the smug aura of "I'm smart to say that"
