Myles Lewis-Skelly vs Real Madrid

18 years old. Quarter final vs Real Madrid. Up against Mbappe, Vinicius, Rodrygo and asking for the ball all the time in tight spaces. Playing like a 27 year old leader. Balls. Baller.

Thought Arsenal were excellent across the board but (another) mention for Myles Lewis-Skelly, who put in an unbelievably mature, impactful performance against one of the great European sides - in a position he's still learning.

We are so lucky to have him. Another Hale End gem.

There are days in life that shake you.

I’m shattered 💔 to share that I just found out that the US Government terminated my 2024 NIH Director’s Early Independence Award (~$2 million), threatening my long-promised assistant professor job at Columbia University
& academic career... 1/🧵

I got laid off today, with the rest of 18F.

18F was an elite federal software shop. We made gov't websites work better, more efficiently for the American people. We saved taxpayers from getting screwed over by contractors. And were fired for it.

We made this website to tell our story:

Excited to share our recent work, looking at the predictive capacity of tertiary lymphoid structures in the tumor microenvironment for head and neck cancer patients receiving immunotherapy.

Congrats to lead author, Dr Daniel Ruiz Torres!

RFK Jr. thinks that a clinical trial should be done for the entire childhood vaccine schedule. Here’s why that will never happen.

1. You can’t do a randomized trial of something that we already know is safe and effective. There would have to be a placebo group that didn’t get vaxxed. Unethical.

Thanks for highlighting our work, @atranscendedman.bsky.social!

Will share more soon on how this work came about (and how we had to challenge many conventions, such as 'there are no viral particles in blood'). Done in partnership with @gmboland.bsky.social. Extra thanks to @adarshc.bsky.social
Boston study tested 168 patient samples using a microfluidic chip that detects intact SARS-CoV-2 particles at just 3 copies/ml.

This tool differentiates active infection from RNA remnants, aiding diagnosis and monitoring.

If philanthropists really wanted to be future-looking, with the planned gutting of the NIH, now might be a good time to rethink the strategy of invest-all-your-capital-in-the same-4-types-of-chatGPT-wrappers.

Just a PSA for your next fund. If basic science funding dries up, so does your pipeline.

This place still feels a bit small, not football focused, but maybe we could try and connect Arsenal fans at least.

If you are an Arsenal fan, leave a reply, people can follow, also please repost or whatever it's called her and hopefully it can spread. #arsenal
