This story could be crapto BS but there are a couple of Canadian calls that come up as belonging to a Rodolfo Novak. I assume this sort of crap is as illegal in Canada as it is in the US under FCC regulation §97.113 (a)(2). If it isn't, it should be.

As a kid I loved the look of this thing in the Allied catalog. I can't remember though if I realized at the time it had no BFO. I would have been really unhappy if I'd somehow bought one and discovered that after the fact. #Shortwave #HamRadio

I don't know about youtube courses, that's a good question. You might try hamstudy.org which is primarily designed as a flash-card type study, but for each question you can "click the corner" and get at least some explanation for the theory behind it.

Back around the late '90s, I believe it was, the FCC announced that they were finally turning up some degree of electronic access (to what functions exactly, I have forgotten)... via dial-up modem. I shit you not. I was like; wut?

I slapped together this 8 dollah Banggood kit yesterday. It's been sitting in a drawer for 6 years. As a frequency counter it sucks, but it does tell you approximately where a crystal is oscillating. Eh, what do you want for 8 bucks? #HamRadio

This docket is only about authorizing Supplemental Coverage from Space (SCS) service, which means direct service to unmodified cell phones. The docket requests a waiver for some coverage because while they're using AT&T and Verizon frequencies under contract with them, smaller mobile providers use the same frequencies in some places and don't have contracts, so a waiver is required, though this was anticipated when the rules were laid out. Was working on the local Yucca Valley repeater the other day. I'd been thru this gate many times, but this was the first time I looked at that razor wire and asked; who the hell is that supposed to keep out? Why would you bother?

National Weather Radio VHF radio coverage is virtually nonexistent in the Morongo Basin. This includes communities of Yucca Valley, Joshua Tree, Twentynine Palms, Morongo Valley & Landers. I know others in the local Amateur Radio club who have complained to NOAA for years about the lack of coverage.
