My ex-step-dad used to say something similar. He also said things like "they're one of the good ones" and "the south will rise again."
Dear Black people, if we want some of us to be treated with higher standards in society, we have to start holding ourselves to those same standards. When we present ourselves in ways that reinforce negative stereotypes or reflect low expectations, we leave the door open for judgment and ridicule. 👇🏾

How about we have party leaders focus on the words of a United States congressman - Sen. Tommy Tuberville of Alabama - who’s calling Black people “inner city rats” who leach off of America’s taxpayers.
Stop the focus on municipal elections and get to this.
Where is the censure and condemnation?
Hakeem Jeffries on Mamdani: "'Globalizing the intifada' by way of example is not an acceptable phrasing. He's gonna have to clarify his position on that as he moves forward."

Interesting. So why did the court rule on this now when an EO is signed saying the constitution no longer applies instead of, oh idk, 2 years ago when Biden tried cancelling student debt?
Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson called yesterday's decision about nationwide injunctions "an existential threat to the rule of law."

She's mistaken.

Isn't there a word for threatening someone unless they do what you want?
YouTuber Ethan Klein says he is suing a man for copyright infringement because I called him (Ethan Klein) a misogynist—unless I apologize. The only problem is that I did not call him a misogynist. He does not accept. This is one of the most popular podcasters on YouTube!

A reminder that the @nytimes.com told New Yorkers to not rank Mamdani at all, & instead endorsed former hedge fund manager Whitney Tilson.

Tilson sits at a whopping .8%.

Corporate media trust is dead. They killed themselves by failing to fulfill their promise of holding the powerful accountable.

Never felt so seen.
Being the "adult" in a relationship in which you were a literal child entails an exhausting amount of emotional labor, & over time is a low key traumatic stressor in itself-- regardless of how "normal" it felt, how "good" you were at it, or how reinforced you were for it.
