In 1968 Finland banned for profit education, the few private schools that exist in Finland have to reinvest any profit they make or pay it back to parents.

It has been in the Top 3 in education for the last 20 years.

There should be no profit in education or healthcare.

Feels like this is a good time to repost this essay about the choices I've made.

"All corners of public life are showing gradual signs of accommodating Trump. Some of the voices most critical of him three weeks ago have grown more measured. Others have gone silent."

From Marc | Since the election, media figures and outlets have followed suit — each moving gradually towards obedience to Trump and then suddenly.

True. Jenrick's point was awful. What really grated was that this was an intervention. Like "a point SO RELEVANT I must put it out there now". And stop making excuses for this shite.

No, Nigel Farage.
We emphatically do not talk about this at home.
You will not import your authoritarian christofascist Trump-style threats into our political debate.
Can’t tell you quite how far you’ll be told to fuck off if you try.

How in the world is the @Telegraph actually trying to spin this as a Labour problem when the mortgage increases were a direct result of Liz “The Lettuce” Truss’s dangerous combination of woefully misplaced self-confidence and weapons-grade incompetence?

I mean, seriously?!

In the UK, Farage has decided to take the pay of US evangelical groups. He’s now spouting anti-abortion tripe and will go full-on MAGA anytime soon.

I don’t think it’ll play in the UK. The real danger is if the media starts making this sort of stuff part of the “conversation”.

Israel has just killed three more World Central Kitchen aid workers in Gaza.

This is the second time Israel bombs World Central Kitchen staff this year.

The Tariff Act of 1930 was designed for protectionist trade. It imposed high tariffs on over 20,000 imported goods which led to retaliatory tariffs from other countries.

Why am I telling you this?
