Two years ago today we were awarded the Congressional Gold Medal for protecting The US Capitol on January 6th 2021. Almost 4 years later the efforts to downplay, whitewash and minimize what happened appear to be succeeding. I won't ever stop standing up to them.

Thankful to be a mom to these two. Being a mom is the hardest most exciting thing I’ve done. #gratitude

Remember tomorrow that the origins of Thanksgiving- as a truly national holiday- came from the work of Sarah Hale and Abraham Lincoln. A nation gave thanks to God as it mourned the Union dead and prayed for the defeat of the Confederacy by either changing rebel minds or bringing them to submission.

If women & pregnant ppl are being forced to carry life threatening, dead fetuses to term, mandatory vasectomies should absofuckinlutely be a thing. 100% of pregnancies, therefore abortions, are caused by penises, so either learn how to keep it in your pants Biff, or snip snip bruh✨

For parents of young children: please read and share this. It’s from 2016 but it is sadly still applicable and helpful.

My first goal is to stay sane. My second goal is to try and help protect democratic norms and institutions. I will try and save my outrage for things I think can’t be undone, for attacks on the structural integrity of the institutions and not trumps aesthetics.

I thought I was kinda getting inured to this trump election but I woke up yesterday and I’m just not ok with this.

How to make it 4 years while raising human beings.

Pregnancy menstruation menopause. Oh wait. Men still get to decide how we experience those things. FTS
What’s something that cannot be understood without first hand experience?

I’ll offer up: parenthood.

Just hosted tea in my house for a friend I haven’t seen in too long. Here’s what we agreed to make it through the next four years:

We invite each other over even if our houses are a mess.

We travel with our families outside the US.

We fix our antidepressants.

We persist.

The thing is. Remember how calm we felt when Biden took office because we wouldn’t have to track the cabinet anymore. We could trust government would do government.

Don’t be the same dusty ass you were on Twitter. Post your hobbies, your passions, talk with each other, follow people back. There is no reason for someone with like 78k followers to be following a handful of people. Don’t act like you’re an elitist dipshit here. We are nice here, to each other.

I work with parents of young children. Last week, a couple said they were lost after the election. “Are we the ones getting everything wrong?” they asked me.

No I said. And sat in silence with them.

They weren’t ready to hear that we governed by ppl who don’t ever wonder if they get it wrong.
