Bluesky starting the year strong
My mom was a union organizer for 25 years. I walked picket lines of wildcat strikes with her. We used to run bake sales and trivia nights to support striking workers. You wouldn't survive 3 seconds in her vagina. It would shrivel up what's left of your balls. I miss her terribly.

One thing we could try to learn from this Luigi Mangione thing is that most people’s views don’t neatly fit into distinct political buckets and we should stop trying to make them

Does the NYPD put this amount of effort into finding the perpetrator of every public murder in the city, or is the search for the UHC assassin unique for a civilian victim?

One thing that we can agree on with the Hawk Tuah crypto scam is that this is the future and we should welcome an administration that makes these scams easier

Idk if this is on purpose or just from pressure but these are not the same guy. How are news sources and the NYPD able to share pics of a totally random innocent dude?

In case there’s any doubt here, I feel very uncomfortable people cheering on someone’s murder.
But I also feel very uncomfortable with a society allowing people to die in the name of the “free market” and “capitalism” and people being cool with that. It doesn’t happen in other countries.
Health insurers will justify all the awful stuff they do by saying that the market and the system requires them to be competitive on costs.
Which, ok, sure. But it takes a certain person to optimise a system to deny people life saving coverage in the name of costs. Nobody HAS to do that.

“UK uncovers vast crypto laundering scheme for gangsters and Russian spies” - I can’t imagine the US is going to allow this sort of thing to continue indefinitely before it requires actual AML/KYC controls on Tether: which kills its business.

This guy worked for State Dept for ~2 months. He has no inside knowledge of anything he talks about, even as he claims he ‘watched a censorship regime grow from the inside.’ It’s all bullshit. And the absolute credulity displayed by Rogan here is why commentary & journalism aren’t the same.

From my years working around VCs and the startup world, these guys more often than not believe that they are the smartest people in the room and they are changing the world. Consequently, regulations stopping them from profiting off their generous brilliance is, to them, massively unfair.
Here’s the most charitable reading I can offer:

The tech barons behaved as though they were atop a social hierarchy, and expected mass adoration for their generosity+forgiveness for mistakes.

Instead, Elizabeth Warren, Lina Khan et al treated them like the heads of *massive corporations.*

I always find it silly how so many supposedly smart people will see something they think is stupid and criticise it without taking the most basic step of trying to understand why it might not be stupid.
Did he think that maybe some doctors might have some insight into weight loss worth listening to?
Ozempic’s primary function is to make it easier to eat healthy, and by extension to exercise. Have seen these drugs work miracles for friends. Feel quite certain there are people in this smug ignoramus’s life who have benefited as well.

One of the very damaging things Musk has done is delegitimise ketamine as a genuinely effective mental health medicine.
Elonia has made 405 ketamine-fueled posts on his social media app in the last 24 hours.
