If 2023 was the year AI slop was embraced by spammers and social media influencers, and 2024 was the year the slop era began in earnest, 2025 was when slop became embedded in our cultural institutions and social spheres.

On the slop layer that we all must navigate now:
Lost in the slop layer
How AI has encrusted our culture and social sphere in a sedimentary layer of slop.

Big Oil and the plastics industry knew decades ago that plastic recycling was “virtually hopeless” — but continue to falsely promote recycling as a solution to plastic waste.

We’re chasing the outrage of the day while a tidal wave of tech change reshapes wages, productivity, and inequality. Can we please have the grown‑up conversation about how to harness AI for broadly shared prosperity?

This a big deal: "China’s carbon dioxide emissions have been flat or falling for 18 months"

China's economy has grown by ~5% in the last year, so this comprehensively debunks the idea (again) that emissions are tied to growth. So yes, faster progress needed, but this is how you turn the corner.
