Gotdamn. #SentimentalValue is a perfect film. I imagine, if I were an actor, I'd pray to all of the gods to get a chance to be in a film like this. Directed by Joachim Trier. #nfotd youtu.be/zBFstFXdk90

I hope it's clear to everyone now that Trump really is going for it - he's trying to become a dictator. I don't know if he'll succeed, but he's working to install himself as an autocrat unaccountable to voters. And he's weaponizing the military against Americans who oppose him as part of that effort

rewatching NETWORK for a project 👀 and it is absolutely shocking how prescient this film is. it’s like paddy chayefsky was granted a vision of america in 2025 and he furiously tried to turn what he saw into something intelligible to viewers in the 1970s

incredible read
I’m reading this fantastic piece by Jonathon Sturgeon in Harper’s.

I now have a fair amount of experience with Louisville. He captures many of its stunning nuances. Nowhere has felt closer to slavery to me. Not richmond (which was the leader until now). Not MS.

I don’t think anyone is prepared for what they just did w/ ICE.

This is not a simple budget increase. It is an explosion - making ICE bigger than the FBI, US Bureau of Prisons, DEA,& others combined.

It is setting up to make what’s happening now look like child’s play. And people are disappearing.

I went this afternoon to go see "I'm Still Here." I've watched A LOT of feature films and docs about life under authoritarian regimes and read countless books about that experience. None have hit me personally the way this one did today. Superb film, deeply relevant to the current moment in the USA.

Watched The Order by Justin Kurzel and let me say this: Jurnee Smollett is good in literally everything she appears in. Reminds me of Steven Yeun. So good it looks effortless but it's really really not.
