Note that welfare programs are basically part of LDS and Quiverfull cultures. The Sister Wives family and the Duggars, before they got that reality TV money, were using government assistance to support their huge families. Hate those cultures but I *still* support all their kids having full bellies

OPINION: Our churches need to wake up. Advocates and abuse survivors aren’t the devil’s employees. If you want to find the devil, follow the church leaders who leave a trail of broken bodies in their wake. That is the road to hell.

In ACNA’s upside-down world, abuse survivors are considered the problem
(RNS) — The crucial truth to remember is that when someone comes forward and tells the truth about abuse, they are not the one causing harm to the church.

If you lose an arrow in a battle, you don’t get it back. It’s expendable. That’s why you need a whole quiver of them.

Worth a read although the team rejected my proposed title: "Who Makes the Laws (Ashey's version)."
Members of the ACNA have spent 4 years calling for changes to the Title IV disciplinary canons as a result of widespread abuse and mishandling. Instead, the ACNA has centered its focus on narrowing members’ ability to bring the change that they have repeatedly requested.

This sat on my parents’ bookshelves when I was growing up. Like most Christian parenting book authors, Tomczak wrote the book when he was the parent of a toddler. His lack of practical experience or theological training didn’t prevent him from telling parents exactly what God expected them to do.
Working on a chapter where I talk about this wretched book and my 10yo saw the cover. He wanted to know what the book was about . . . I told him just a tiny bit about the religious authoritarian parenting methods of guilt and corporal punishment. He immediately pointed out that this boy was crying 💔
