one of the coolest things about ChatGPT is how you can actually just never use it. you can fill your whole entire life with simply not once using it. it's incredible.

I did a good deed this morning to which the person responded with a '👍' and it's taking me everything I've got to remain the bigger person. (The existence of this post might suggest I'm not quite managing it.)

Update: we have sold a total of eight books this month. "The books go to their readers, one by one, quickly, slowly, halfway around the world or halfway across the city. There is no supply chain, only the postal network, irregular events, direct sales to bookshops, and local distribution."
It may well be the case that small, independent presses are the lifeblood of literature, and a vital feature of our cultural landscape, providing an essential service in a complex ecosystem, like wrasses or shrimps. What is undeniably the case is that we have sold a total of five books this month.

Someone should ask Starmer and Mahmood whether they think the Kindertransport, for example, should have been a return ticket. Whether Alf Dubs, rather than becoming a Labour MP and now Lord, ought to have been sent back with his family to Czechoslovakia once it was liberated from German rule.
This contribution to the volume of human misery is yet another policy from Labour based on a false premise, in this case that refugees are overly attracted to Britain. It will increase bureaucratic limbo, thus making worse the problem of "cohesion" it purports to solve.

UK set to limit refugees to temporary stays
Shabana Mahmood is expected to say the era of permanent protection for refugees is over, in major changes to the UK's asylum and immigration system.

Hooray! This is one of my favourite podcasts and it sheds a LOT of light on how authors feel about our industry. Every publishing person should listen to it.
good GOD it's been a long time 🫠

No promises on the quality of this episode! We're rusty as anything. Huge thanks to "Drake Scottford" for being our special guest this episode!

Things I'd like the judges to look for: books that break the mould and do surprising things with form, books that challenge expectations and kick against the pricks generally, books that bring kids pure joy and excitement. Books kids act out in games. Books kids create fanart and fanfic of.

I've emailed my MP @stephenmorganmp.bsky.social about this, as swifts are a beloved sight and sound here in Portsmouth South and it's obvious that all MPs should be supportive of swift bricks. What's not to like about a brick with a hole in it that could help bring swifts back from the brink.
Nature action: email STEVE REED m: steve.reed.mp@parliament.uk simply saying MANDATE SWIFT BRICKS. If you want you can email me at thefeatherspeech@gmail.com for a template but that is the simple message to convey. PEOPLE POWER WORKS BUT ONLY … if enough people actually act !!

How have I only just discovered that @gailmyerscough.co.uk has a whole Tricorn range? This changes EVERYTHING.
If I’m being honest, I’m feeling pretty crap about my small business.

It’s so bloody difficult at the moment with rising costs, US tariffs, Brexit nonsense and the threat of AI.

Please have a look at what I do and repost to spread the word gailmyerscough.co.uk
