Excited to share findings from my PhD work published in AJCN! As Dr. Hennigar noted in his editorial—“Findings from this study reframe how we think about dietary Fe requirements and build evidence for more precise Fe intake and supplementation guidelines”. Links below!👇 @nutritionorg.bsky.social

Super excited to witness this project coming to fruition! I was part of the initial pilot project that recruited ~60 participants. I can imagine the amount of work to recruit over 500 participants during the COVID years! Super impressed that @abarad.bsky.social and Kimberly got it done!
Huge thanks to @kcklatt.bsky.social for having us on the AJCN 🎙️ to chat about the FeGenes study! Stay tuned for our next paper on the genetics of Fe absorption in this cohort, in collaboration with @yekaixiong.bsky.social. Exciting steps towards precision nutrition!

Most hearts have right dominant coronary anatomy but some have left. Why? Is it random? When/how is dominance established?

Now out in @cellpress.bsky.social, the 1st GWAS of coronary dominance + experiments implicating CXCL12 as a driver of human coronary patterning!

A bit delayed, but finally, here is a Skytorial (Bluetorial?) on our recent study of guideline recommended statin use in younger adults. #CardioSky #MedSky #CVPrev

Guideline recommended statin eligibility and use among U.S. adults ages 20 to 39 years
Guidelines for statin therapy emphasize treatment of adults ages 40–75 years, with less guidance for the treatment of younger adults, ages 20–39 years…
