These Colts uniforms are awful. They look like an unlicensed Ravens clone from a football movie.

This is exactly what MLS should do once the Apple contract expires.

See, #DCU fans should view this optimistically. Now United can grow rivalries with teams that we always lose against.
🚨 Sources: All info on new divisions in MLS in future...

- 5 divisions, six teams each
- San Jose not with California teams
- D.C. United not with Northeast teams

Likely plan, but not 100% confirmed yet. Playoff proposals too

EVERYONE in soccer, globally and domestically, treats the American soccer fan as little more than an ATM.
Column:

FIFA’s pricing strategy for World Cup is not only terrible for foreigners who want to travel, it also treats U.S. sports fans as FIFA’s personal ATM and excludes many domestically from a sport which is still in a growth phrase in the U.S.

Exorbitant World Cup ticket prices could ruin hopes of growing soccer in the U.S.
Even the least expensive tickets for next summer's World Cup will be unaffordable for the majority of Americans

Ohio State, for sure.
I think it’s very important that everyone have at least one tacky thing they love unabashedly

Lots of word-shaped air here from Garber. When the first thing he mentions after touting the need to reach an "international standard" are new stadiums, it does little to counter the belief that MLS is, for many owners, simply a real estate investment.

I just can’t believe that was Indiana.

I should reserve judgement until after the playoffs finish, but this is so much slop.

Too many teams.
Too many groups.
Too many matches.
Too many hosts.
Too much everything.

If the Champions Lge expansion was our first look at pure soccer-as-content ideology, this surely is its apotheosis.

The contrast between the Spirit hiring Carter and @dcunitedofficial.bsky.social hiring Erkut Sogut is bright enough as to be seen from space.
Thrilled to announce the addition of Haley Carter as our new President of Soccer Operations! 🤗

Welcome to D.C., Haley! 💪 #RiseUp

If a fraction of the Tanner stuff is true, @philadelphiaunion.com should fire him. Whether Philly does will, I suspect, largely come down to whether the club feels vulnerable to a wrongful termination suit if they do and what would appear to be an ugly discovery process.

Washington Spirit has hosted more playoff matches at Audi Field this year (two) than D.C. United has since the stadium opened in 2018 (one).

I haven't surveyed or even poked around that hard on this... but it seems to me I'm observing a bit of an age divide on MLS shifting its calendar.

- The old fans/observers I know... 40-somethings and up who remember the league's foundation--AGAINST
- Everyone younger--FOR.

As always, I will include this proviso.

Am increasingly unsure any of this⬇️ will matter. American fans want to watch the foreign product. It's unclear that any amount of format tweaking or rebranding will change that.
Support the calendar move unreservedly at this point, but the divisions/table thing below is unnecessarily complicated. Just keep divisions. North America is huge. A "proper" single table disadvantages western and particularly PNW teams with even more endless air travel than their competitors.

Anyone who has ever been to Chester or Harrison knows how this goes. Even the area directly around Audi Field (not Nats Park or Navy Yard itself) is hardly a bustling "scene" especially on non-gamedays.

This is really nice.

It is also adjacent to one of my most old-man-waves-at-cloud opinions... I hate when teams/countries wear black when it's not one of their traditional colors. I don't like when Ohio State does it. I don't like when Mexico does it. I don't like when <every> hockey team does it.
It’s perfect.

I challenge anyone to have a more negative appraisal of their respective team (in my case, DCU) than I did on this survey.
It's time for my favorite piece of content we do every year: our fan survey.

This year, we're collaborating with over 20 independent outlets to try and get it out to as many people as we can! If you have even a passing interest in Major League Soccer, could you take a minute and fill this out?

Gio Reyna's agency, ROOF Sports, is some of the least competent representation I've ever seen. Unless he's just clinically incapable of listening to guidance, there's no reason for him stepping in it like this.

Almost unbelievable how much better college football is with player salaries, NIL, and the transfer portal. Simultaneously fixed CFB's original sin of unpaid players AND made the on-field competition significantly more entertaining. one of the biggest Ws in the history of American sports
It's a new era of college football where anything is possible:

- Vanderbilt is 6-1 for the first time since 1950

- Georgia Tech is 7-0 for the first time since 1966

- Indiana's No. 3 ranking is its highest ever

All in the playoff mix. This is fun.

A lot of "beat sweetening" happening this morning among the #USMNT press pack.

A 2-1 win over a smaller country with a similarly Potemkin domestic soccer system is the barest of minimums.
