If we call it a whale-oiled machine is that more climate friendly?
Cooking with gas.

Well-oiled machine.

Burning the midnight oil.

Step on the gas.

If a President could pull a Senator into the armed forces that seems like a clear violation of the separation of powers.

It's a 10-week bill.

We'll find out pretty soon if the GOP will allow ACA subsidy extension votes or not.

We vaccinate to protect those around us.

Estimated 1 in 600 babies infected will die of this.

"The child... was originally infected with measles as an infant before they were eligible to receive the measles vaccine which is routinely recommended to be administered between 12 and 15 months"
Death from sub-acute sclerosing panencephalitis (SSPE) in a child in Los Angeles
SSPE is a rare sequel of #measles infection that appears years after the initial infection, and is uniformly fatal. So sorry for this family. As things are going on the US, we'll be seeing more of these cases.
Child dies from rare measles-related complication, LA County health officials say
Health officials reported the death of a Los Angeles County child from a complication of measles infection acquired during infancy.

The "better angels" rhetoric is probably best known from Lincoln's first inaugural, where he pleaded in vain to stop the oncoming civil war.

Now used by Arnold Schwarzenegger in what is hopefully not a surreal rhyming of history.

the whole point of making it illegal to discriminate based on national origin is to keep internecine violence out of our country

almost any reasonably fit adult in the US has the means to assassinate nearly anyone else from 150 yards with a credit card, a clean record, and a day of practice at a range

don't support political violence!

I would like to see some sentiment analysis on the Bluesky user base's response.

A lot of horrifying glorification of violence coming from the Left.

In many ways the rhetoric from the loud Bluesky mob is just as evil as Twitter.

The only redeeming factor is I can block people here.
Just gonna put out there for the record that assassinating people is bad no matter how much you disagree with them

Political violence is bad. It usually begets more political violence.

Celebrating political violence is bad. It usually encourages more political violence, against various targets.

Campus shootings are bad. They make everyone on campus less safe.

It's bad that what I wrote here is controversial.

Judge: I got a call at 2:36 a.m. because the govt chose this time on a holiday weekend to execute this plan. I have been up since then. I haven't been able to reach anyone from govt until this morning at 9:30 a.m. So absent this intervention, all children would already have been sent to Guatemala!

If Democrats want to win elections they need to stop mourning the CDC and start presenting what they want instead.

Same with everything else Trump is cancelling.

Nostalgia politics is not a winnable path, they need a reasonable way forward.

Intellectually we know it's artificial and 100% BS, but it fills the same gap in humanity searching for meaning that we used to fill with God and religions.
