The line between a president saying "Quiet, Piggy" and this is a lot more dotted than people acknowledge.
A person of interest was in custody on Wednesday after a 26-year-old woman was set on fire and left in critical condition while riding a Chicago L train in the city’s busy Loop area earlier this week, the authorities said.

It doesn't strike me as the most politically unsavvy course of action to shut down the government to call attention to Rs lack of answers about healthcare, reopen the government so Rs can choose to inflict said pain (that everyone is more aware of), and then drop massive news about Epstein.

This is most likely my hottest take and will probably disqualify me from ever even thinking about public office:

I think Halloween should be a holiday for kids.

It's becoming evergreen at this point: these dudes are fucking losers.

So, like, anyone else getting increasingly worried that all of society's moral beliefs are getting replaced at a much faster pace with the question of "how does this benefit me financially?"

Really hoping the conversation shifts to "healthcare *and*..."

As in, healthcare, and:
- something in writing saying recissions of appropriately funded money will cease
- the military will stay out of US cities unnecessarily
- FEMA is funded and staffed again
- the Epstein files are released
- etc
I get that healthcare is a massively important topic for a ton of people, but it's irksome when Schumer and Jeffries talk about it as if it's the only provision or concessions they're asking from Rs.

The nation is teetering on the edge of a cliff. Healthcare isn't enough.

"Talk shit, get hit."

I would describe myself as a non-violent person. I'm not one to get any enjoyment from violent entertainment (MMA, boxing, etc) let alone have ever found myself in a fight. And yet even I am aware of that phrase: the words we say can have consequences.

File this with the rest of the others: dudes who are evil, yeah, but also fucking *losers*.

Late to the Jordan Peterson Jubilee video (because why would I want to watch that?) but learning that his third claim was "Everybody worships something..." struck me as pretty funny because, like, obviously?

Is that even debatable when, like Peterson does, you don't define worship to need a deity?

While I can understand aspects of the criticism Ezra Klein gets for his guests, the discourse around this last episode (by people who actually listened) has been so so clear: Hazony's position is a joke. Like, laughably unintelligent and unserious. A lot of that is due to Klein as a host.

"I'm fiscally conservative but socially liberal."

Dog, you can't be.
Social programs inherently cost money. If you're for schools, libraries, bike lanes, Medicare and Medicaid, SNAP, etc etc you're not fiscally conservative. And if you're against those, you're not socially liberal.

My main takeaway: these people all need to be dunked on more.

Yes, disprove and call out their bullshit points.

But also take time to point out how fucking stupid some of these dudes look and how beta they are when it comes to their perceived heroes.

What happened in TX is a horrific tragedy. Full stop.
Too many people died in what feels like, to me, preventable situations. The fact that a good portion of them were children is even more heartbreaking. No parent, city, or state should ever have to experience this loss.

So we're all in agreement: the phrase "fiscal hawks" can never be applied to Republicans again, yeah?

To anyone in Oregon: the one house member from the state who voted for this bill is Cliff Bentz. His DC office number is 202.225.6730.

Spoke with someone live just now so highly encourage all Oregonians to hit him up and ask him to vote no.

Really want Mamdani to wear a tan suit at his first official campaign stop as the Democratic candidate for mayor just so every conservative pundit's head explodes.

I honestly don't know how we can expect any sort of progress as long as social media platforms are allowed to continue to monetize "engagement" and reactions over honesty.
