Wow, how in the world do you miss that false start on Arizona.

Arizona looks like a solid football team and UC just kinda pieces things together and it’s not super working out this time.

so ask yourself, when you're advancing some new grand theory of Why Things Are Like This: does this theory actually point the way towards new solutions you hadn't thought of before? or does it just smear a layer of verbiage on top of your existing grievances and grudges?

Yeah, I think this is an important point to keep in mind with the right wingers who are all in on Epstein - they’re in because they think it’s proof that Jewish pedophiles run the world, and you absolutely do not gotta hand it to them for that
There are 2 things happening with MTG:

1) She's an HR nightmare. Her schoolyard bullying antics mean no one, regardless of politics, wants her in their workplace.

2) She's a full believer in antisemitic conspiracy theories, and from that point of view Trump looks like part of the conspiracy.

but does it feel like they’re on a glide path to successful authoritarian consolidation anymore? I submit that it does not

This, from @pbump.com, is a superb description of what pollsters are showing: Trump's support is growing soft, starting w/Epstein.

But the other thing Epstein does--is perfectly designed to do (bc his trolls have ALWAYS been pedo-conspiracy adjacent) is they make it REALLY hard to command attention
Donald Trump’s presidency hinges on loyalty, which depends on the perception of power. As a lame duck, that perception is already eroding — and the Epstein scandal is now accelerating it.
Opinion | The Epstein divisions among Republicans are hastening Trump's lame-duck status
These polls suggest the issue is a bigger problem than the president wants to admit.

The one thing the Internet has taught us is that there is always someone somewhere who is like that for real.
Someone cannot possibly be like that for real right? Right??

There were a lot of great moments from tonight but the best by far was Miz hanging out well after the allotted time for the event was over and ripping cards with a kid wearing his jersey. They even pulled a Miz!

This is could well be a historic midterm for Democrats.

Don’t waste it on centrists who won’t come through when it matters. Run vocal progressives.

You won’t end Trumpism without anti-corruption crusaders and warriors for social and economic justice who believe in taxes & big, universal programs.
Those claiming Dems should retreat on racial justice aren't hard-headed realists, they're pushing against the electoral tide rather than leaning into it. The story of Gen Z isn't about racist backlash or red-pilled young men. It's the most racially progressive generation in American history. 🧵

I forgot about the approaching strike and bought a bag yesterday 🤦‍♂️ might return it. At least I bought a local bag too.

Anyway just a friendly reminder to do better than I did and support striking workers by not buying Starbucks!
BREAKING: Starbucks workers have launched a massive, nationwide strike.

Baristas in 40 cities have walked off the job on the busiest day of Starbucks' year.

Upwards of 12,000 @sbworkersunited.org members could ultimately go on strike as the union escalates.

I dunno I guess I’m good with hearing perspectives from all corners of pro-democracy coalition and the snark just gets annoying.

No one knows the perfect political calculation for this because there isn’t one.

Yes I was against caving. Yes I’m glad the below is happening. Let’s keep going.
Imagine if Dems in the Senate hadn't caved. The House wouldn't be in session rn, the discharge petition wouldn't be signed, people wouldn't have SNAP, govt workers would be RIF'd & the GOP would have some decent talking points. But also online rage addicts would be happier! YMMV!

The notion abusers need to resort to conspiracies and subterfuge is more comforting than the truth that many people will readily look the other way when confronted with sexual violence if doing otherwise would even slightly inconvenience them
Pizzagate: If you replace the word “hot dog” with “little boy” and “pizza party” with “child sex orgy,” you will see the lengths these elites go to cover up their crimes.

Real elite emails: Send me nude pictures of those 8th graders we abused last weekend post-haste! I am the Ambassador to Turkey.

Today is a good day to remember, and to say, that the #MeToo movement was right, and was righteous, and has been vindicated over and over again. There was no overreach. There was no excess. There was no they-went-too-far.

So much work remains to be done.

I used to be an avid NPR listener. I’ve cut back severely but in the car just now heard someone (I think it was Scott Detrow) pushing Congressman Garcia (CA) hard on why they’d spend time on the Epstein stuff, and man, I just think that’s a piss poor use of journalism.

i think this is true to some extent but it's easy to underestimate the extent to which society does not really care about women or children despite many ostentatious declarations to the contrary
Yes there's a lot of denial, but I've seen it: when it snaps, it snaps hard.

"Powerful men covered up child sex abuse" isn't outlandish when you've seen that happen in church, boy scouts, school athletics, and every other social pillar of your conservative middle-class life in the past few decades.

Neutrality and objectivity are not the same thing and are, in fact, often contradictory goals. The objective truth is often not neutral in its political implications, and it would be a useless exercise if it was.
Got turned down on a piece about ICE in Chicago for an international news org because they believed I couldn’t be objective about my neighbors getting kidnapped. And well, guilty as charged I guess.

Democrats at every level of power could simply repeat "he must resign" over and over and over again. It's what the GOP would do if the situation were reversed. Further erode his power by pushing him to lash out more.
