When my phone is running maps and an audiobook, after every "in 500 feet, etc" it repeats the last few seconds of the recording. when there are a lot of directions in a row, the same sentence plays over and over, progressing by a word or two each time. this is how I imagine gibbering madness now

the zoo has lots of programs for teachers and if anyone asks I swear by them but really I just like getting a sprinkle of zoo with my professional development.

do those pink slime celebrity tell-all books ever get read? was under the impression they just sit there looking shiny until they're bulk-bought from enough b&ns to be put on the nyt bestseller's list. i bet the ghostwriter could hide anything in the middle. cookie recipes. dark secrets. fancy ham

really long-ass books have a tendency to be less tightly edited (not necessarily worse, just, heavily dusted with sentence-level stumbles) and I guess I understand the editor growing weary by page 700 but don't you want to earn those words if you want your reader to get through so many?

in yet another great example of how good ai is at things, I just noticed the worthless summaries under videos don't update right away. apparently the topic of "90s vibe lofi study music lofi rain chillhop beats" is evidence of cannibalism and human sacrifice in archaeological sites around the world

got it for my birthday, started on my lunch break, had an excellent time with the first dozen pages!

you guys remember silverwing? kenneth oppel. had an utterly wild tonal trajectory from a solid but straightforward talking animal adventure to an antiwar polemic to a mystical psychodrama and ended with a prehistoric prequel with a psychic pterodactyl and killer swarm of shrews?

informed by my constant diet of weird history media that most mysterious kangaroo sightings are really just wallabies.

just.

just wallabies.

"oh don't worry about that it's like a foot shorter than the guy you thought it was."

how, HOW does that explain a single solitary thing

sadly not actually him. source, for those not up on the lore, my mom is his cousin
What's from Chicago, hates Illinois Nazis, and is holy as fuck?

It's the Pope in 1982.

shout-out to the kid who stops by my room to beg, not for snacks or supplies or copies, but for tea. sent him away with wild berry rooibos and sicilian orange yesterday

combined steam libraries with my brother and was sorta charmed by the first few notifications i received of what he was playing. what an inane little automated act of affectionate spying! then i remembered he has a game entitled "furry shades of gay" and yeah we're gonna turn that off now

I'm editing a new anthology of sci fi written by sex workers for @workinggirlspress.bsky.social. It's called Liquid Silver (after the club/brothel in Tank Girl) and I'm so excited to see what my SW babes are writing!

adblock protects you from most popups at the price of violently interrupting you by opening a whole new tab, arguably the ultimate popup, to punish you whenever it feels unappreciated

Did you know. That the meme-explosion that was the wooden model of Sacabambaspis (an Ordovician jawless fish) held at a Museum in Helsinki, was created by a pioneering Estonian fish paleontologist and palaeoartist, Elga Mark-Kurik. 🧵

all this frankenstein chatter has activated my longstanding vague intention to reread the novel (high school is in another country, and besides, that wench is dead) and i had definitely forgotten how wildly thirsty the arctic explorer frame narrator guy was for victor

jco is under some very specific curse. everything she says has like a 5-7% chance of wisdom that crackles like thunder with no need for lightening and the rest is the silliest, most banal shit you've ever heard

I prefer reading paper books. it is an aesthetic indulgence that becomes a little strained by 700 page hardcovers. strained all the more when I need to wield the aforementioned behemoth one-handed so I can pet the dog

generally I love haters but the helluva hoteliverse has become one of those things people cannot be normal about. every fan I've encountered is either a teenager harmlessly enjoying their edgelord stage or a tired middle-aged dork enjoying the trash. whence the frantic frothing at the mouth?
I don’t Hazbin Hotel is perfect by any means, but ngl, I think dedicating your entire account to bitching about it is loser behavior. Like, shut uuuuppp already.

Now excuse me as I return to fixating on Prehistoric Planet.
