I finally found the time and energy to make a new blog and write a couple of posts. This time I wrote about PBR content and game development principles. Both posts are quite different so hopefully people find something interesting on either one of them.

TinyBVH 1.6.7 is now available on the main branch. Changes:
* TinyBVH now only needs C++11 (tiny_ocl.h needs C++17)
* Full-sweep SAH builder is now threaded
* Fix for crash in BuildAVX
Still zero dependencies. :)
And: The repo reached 1k stars!

Very happy to receive a SIGGRAPH 2025 Best Paper Award (Honorable Mention) for our RSP algorithm, which dices surfaces into near-perfect rectangles.

Such meshes are useful for everything from retopology, to microfluidic simulation, to textile design, to architectural geometry.

Fun new paper at #SIGGRAPH2025:

What if instead of two 6-sided dice, you could roll a single "funky-shaped" die that gives the same statistics (e.g, 7 is twice as likely as 4 or 10).

Or make fair dice in any shape—e.g., dragons rather than cubes?

That's exactly what we do! 1/n

Made some updates to my old grass renderer after reading a recent blog post on grass rendering. Clumping the grass with noise and adding specular highlights makes it look much better

Managed to get Nvidia Flow (PhysX) to compile and run, after initially failing the other week. Was curious for a quick peek now that it's been open sourced (github.com/NVIDIA-Omniv...)

Flow itself isn't CUDA based, but instead uses compute shaders

Some higher level observations in the replies 1/?
