“The loudest complaints should be coming from Trump’s protectionist advisers. By their logic, tariffs are about building up US domestic capacity. Trump, by contrast, is using them for whatever takes his fancy. And boy does he fancy strongmen.” My column. www.ft.com/content/9a76...

The US president’s sympathy for disgraced strongman Bolsonaro is part of an alarming pattern

They're giving you a putt from the tee though
REPORTER: What do you say to people who view that luxury jet as a personal gift to you?

TRUMP: You're ABC fake news, right? Let me tell you -- you should be embarrassed asking that question. They're giving us a free jet ... when they give you a putt, you pick it up and you walk to the next hole

Vacant Affordable Apartments in NYC Now to Skip Lottery
The process to lease vacated affordable, income-restricted rentals in New York has been changed in an attempt to cut red tape. And applying for the housing lottery will become simpler, too.

Elon Musk has been a walking SEC violation for a decade and no one cared. The entire Trump era could have been avoided if the US took white collar crime anywhere near as seriously as it does low level drug crime.

On a 2023 earnings call, Elon Musk boasted that Tesla had bagged “over 1 million” Cybertruck reservations and that “demand is off the charts.”

So why has the company still sold less than 50,000 trucks since customer deliveries began 14 months ago?
‘Over 1 Million’ People Wanted a Cybertruck. Where Are They?
“Demand is off the charts!” Elon Musk crowed at the end of 2023, citing more than a million reservations for Tesla's polarizing polygonic pickup—so why has it still sold less than 50,000?

Trump berates Zelensky, the leader of a democratic country courageously fighting Russian imperialism, while he allies himself with Putin, a dictator who started the bloodiest European war in 80 years.

Sorry, President Trump. We believe in democracy, not authoritarianism.

Did they ask Elon Musk that question?
GLENN: Why don't you wear a suit? You're at the highest level in this country's office & you refuse to wear a suit. A lot of Americans have problems with you not respecting the office.

ZELENSKYY: I will wear a costume after this war will finish. Maybe something like yours. Maybe something better.

It took the Nazis one month, three weeks, two days, eight hours, and 40 minutes to dismantle a constitutional republic.

When the fire starts to burn, every good person better be ready to man a post with a bucket of water if you want to stop it from raging out of control.

Political liberalism has a lot of flaws but one of the cool things about it is how it's constructed around the insight that monarchy is a fundamental affront to human dignity 👍

Most people don’t know you can download your entire FB/insta account data. That means you can keep everything you’ve ever posted, made, and changed.

It's never been about evidence for Aaron Mate and his ilk, it's just about ideology, and finding anything that fits their narrative and boosting it as much as possible to their audience until it bounces around their echochamber enough to convince everyone in it that it's the truth.
Aaron Mate admitting that even testimony from 10,000 Douma survivors in Syria wouldn't be enough to convince him his elaborately constructed, pro-Assad conspiracy theory isn't true.

Absolutely vile.
