Zero about stopping private equity from buying all the housing that’s available. But sure let’s get people a longer time to pay back a ridiculous loan but let’s also keep wages stagnant, while inflation just balloons out of control.
It would take 30 years on a 50 year mortgage to accumulate the same amount of equity (say $100,000) that a borrower with a 30-year mortgage would accumulate in just 12.
The first 20 years of a 50 year loan, around 90% of the payments go towards interest.
