And finally for today, I also had a wonderful few days at the stunning Victoria Falls in October 2025 ☺️.

And just a few more memories from the Zambezi in 2025 😊.

And another of my 2025 highlights was my holiday in the lower Zambezi National Park in September/October.

One of my highlights from 2025 was landing my first ever white marlin on a fly. Off the Moroccan Atlantic coast in September.
Tagged and released 😎.

Oh I do love the Lady of the Stream. Feisty fish that are just stunning to look at.
Look carefully alongside the big green leaves and you can see the returned lady 😊.

A glorious day out on the Kennet on Tuesday, water level as low as I can remember, so didn’t bother much with fly fishing. Walked a good few miles and just enjoyed being there with nature 😊.

Just another day watching a swan family on the river Kennet 😎

As the country teeters towards a hosepipe ban, a reminder that businesses who pump under 20m³ of water a day - roughly two thirds of a large tanker, or enough water for 140 people - don't even need a permit to do that.

Introducing water wholesalers: companies that pump water to sell to businesses using a marketplace that makes water consumption really hard to track.

To make more money they offer customers cheaper rates the more water they buy, incentivising high water use.

Spend an extra ten minutes in the shower & you pay for it, but a business can purchase enough water to drain a river & they're rewarded with a discount rate.

I took a friend as a guest to fish with me on the River Kennet on Wednesday.
On a beat I have visited hundreds of times over the years, he saw a view and snapped it.
I’ve never properly noticed it before, but can there be a more quintessentially English view than this 😍.

Was working on the river Kennet today using grapples to drag snags out of the water where they were causing issues.
Hard work, but couldn’t choose a nicer workplace 😊.

I do love it when Mayfly start to come off the water in numbers 😊.
Cutting riverside paths on the Kennet yesterday afternoon and they started to come off in clouds.
I even managed to capture pics of a couple as they made their first escape from the water, leaving their shuck behind.
Lovely sight 😎.

A pleasant day on the River Kennet Friday, then again on Tuesday, this time with the Duck family 😎.

Friday was my first day out on the Kennet this year, no fish but a beautiful day to be out there listening to the cuckoos 😎.

Just enjoying a glass in the evening sun on a pleasant evening, as one ought to 😉 and this lovely arrived to try and recharge on the south facing wall of my balcony. Hope it makes it to tomorrow 🤞.

🧵 1/5 Rock Pool Sickness - A Warning.
The scene looks idyllic - a bay next to Prawle Point in South Devon, a location that reaches out far into the English Channel.
No danger of sewage pollution there surely?
No better place to take your Grandkids rock pooling?
Think again.

5/5 We are still all recovering from this incident. For my daughter, a Jnr Doc. working in A&E, it's meant time away from work this week.
For myself, a type 1 Diabetic, it's been a week of very high blood glucose readings & insulin resistance.
A truly horrible experience.

2/5 I was there with my family last Saturday.
8 of us walked around to the bay & 4 spent half an hour rock pooling.
As a consequence, the people who put their hands in the rockpools were violently sick, followed by an awful week of feeling very unwell, with flu-like symptoms, not unlike Covid.

Just a small thing, but it brightened up my day to see all the colours of the plants on my balcony today in the sunshine and the simple beauty of the snowdrops 😊
