Merry Christmas, Blueskyers xx

Thank you Lisa, I hope he loves it!

The first hearing, it’s astonishing, because you wonder if it will ever end. It helped that it was in a particularly strong episode too. Her songs are so much more than that one.

IOYN already running away with this which may be why it got to #1.

A few yeses already!

I like Too Much but it had a dreadful guitar solo in it. I agree Try was surprisingly strongish but most of the fans had gone by then.

NKOTB was going to be my next question, funnily enough. What intrigues me is that all the singles charted high, though only one #1 (two with NK) but they’re almost all forgotten.

I’m wondering if they were the ultimate fans-only band and I would be happy to be proved wrong.

For several months it was an impossibility and then it just felt overwhelm. I just want to be vaguely engaged with the world again! Thanks.

I’ve never thought of asking this before but: did anyone on my TL who did not consider themselves a Bros fan buy any Bros records, and if so, which one(s)?

Final #forgotten80s of 2025 from 9 tonight on Absolute 80s. It's a best of our feature The Edge Of Heaven, so loads of singles that peaked in the 80s from 41 down. And it's extended - we're on until midnight!

Surprising really that nobody’s done a medley called ‘Reasons to Hello Vogue the Fire’ and it’s a 20-minute list.

With Bardot's passing, the only named individuals in Billy Joel's We Didn't Start The Fire that are still alive are Matthew Corbett, Toyah and Nigel Pivaro.

‘Thank you for your attention towards my anti-matter.’

It has been very hard to concentrate at times in 2025.

I really only have one resolution for next year and it’s just this: find time and room to read, see and listen to new stuff without getting too obsessive. Because this year… well, I basically missed it.

Seven years since I watched one of the most important documentaries ever made. A masterpiece

Spikey and Fitzmaurice may be the secret weapons in the early stuff, I feel.

Just *thinking* of it now has set me off.

Very much sold at the time as 'This is the greatest situation comedy in the world' and this was during Dick Van Dyke times which as we've established was the best in America, but a very different beast.

I almost can't believe it.

My DVDs aren't to hand. I don't think he ever bettered TPKT, it's been ages since I saw those, mind.

Went down a Steptoe rabbit hole last night, and discovered that an excerpt was shown in America on Jack Paar's variety show on 24 April 1964. Paar was quite the Anglophile - I believe his was the first national TV show to feature The Beatles (3 Jan 1964).

My review of the theatre year 2025.

Though I now can't quite remember if it was from Phoenix Nights or the series of one-offs before that. I remember the C4 onscreen apology was priceless.

I will never understand why people would buy that kind of greetings card for someone they actually like.

Because it makes me laugh in a way that very few things do, and I would need cheering up in such circumstances.

FINALLY it is here. My eighth Desert Island Disc. I haven't decided on the other seven.
An album that is guaranteed to clear the room and make you smile, finally out on CD 😀
