Questions today about vaccines might just be a product of their success. Here’s what people should know about six once-common illnesses that vaccines have contained for decades.
Six Childhood Scourges We’ve Forgotten About, Thanks to Vaccines
Most Americans, including doctors, have no memory of the devastating diseases that routinely threatened children until the 1960s.

Social media has dissolved the mortar of our society and made America stupid, Jonathan Haidt argued in 2022. It’s not just a phase. theatln.tc/XH7Zf8OQ

2016: 56% of Ds saw Trump's election as illegitimate
2020: 70% of Rs saw Biden's win as illegitimate
2024: only 10% of Ds see Trump's win as illegitimate

Were some Dems polarized against looking like dumb Republicans or is it just that all of the conspiracy theorists have consolidated in one party?

I approach government and civil society institutions with "how can we use these to our advantage in pursuit of positive goals?" rather than "what do they deserve?," as if we're deciding whether or not to do them a favor. But I've found that a lot of people disagree with me on that.

Impressive Georgia Tech football stat: Someone who put $100 on GT to win straight up in each of the 31 games since Brent Key took over as head coach in November 2022 would have won 20 times and profited more than $3000 despite being favored to win in only 11 games. @gtfootball.bsky.social #StingEm

The theory that Trump is nominating people who will be intensely loyal to him because they have been cast aside by everyone else feels devastatingly likely.

At this point Jake Paul should absolutely be embarrassed if he can’t finish a winded senior citizen on a bad knee

I watch a boxing match and I’m like man this sucks I’m not watching that again and then I watch another boxing match and I’m like man this is really awful I’m not watching boxing anymore and then I watch another boxing match and I’m like wow I really hate boxing and then I watch another boxing match

I’m pulling for Mike as hard as everyone else, but if Jake Paul and his team were willing to risk a loss, he wouldn’t be fighting a 60 year old…

I refuse to experience imposter syndrome ever again when we live in a world where RFK Jr. and Matt Gaetz can get these cabinet nominations

What an achievement vaccines are. What a monument to our love for each other it is to stare straight into the face of something as horrific and unstoppable as smallpox or measles or polio or cervical cancer and say “You know what, it doesn’t have to be like this.”

I have no idea what his personal/political beliefs are, but insofar as he's contributing to modern medical knowledge and greater human longevity, Bryan Johnson is a good man doing good things. I'm glad he's around!
