In a functional party system, this kind of capitulation in the face of authoritarianism could mean the end of the Democratic Party.
In our system, it could mean the end of the two party system. Neither party can represent the pro-democracy majority. It's time for something new.

Imagine gatekeeping maritime tragedy. The temptous behavior of those great lakes is awe inspiring and alien to folk born of salt and swamp. But I think the deep fresh water and rarity of sunlight does something to thier brains.

Americans can’t recognize fascism because American exceptionalism prevents them from acknowledging their country is capable of it. They just held a Senate vote to kill 50k citizens and the Americans’ take-away was that they have to primary harder.

All they'll do is go on social media and tell you how bad the things they let happen are. Salt in the wound. There's no call to change how they do things, no demand for Schumer to resign, no postulating about fundamentally changing the approach, just a report on how much we all just got fucked.

What if millions of us change our political affiliation from Democrat to ‘Independent’ tomorrow??? If we could boycott Disney, we can use our party registration to tell the Democratic leadership to GTH.
