“We all want quiet, we all want beauty, we all need space”

These are the words of one of our three founders, Octavia Hill.

Born on this day in 1838, she worked tirelessly to improve urban housing and to protect green spaces. The impact of her life and work is still being felt today.

Maybe you bought a camera or started feeding the birds?
Please let me know!🐦🥰🐦

2. The current rhetoric of those who mobilise racism for political gain proposes that those who investigate colonial history and modern racism are the problem. Not racism itself.

So please forgive my product posts amongst my bird photos.🐦

Delighted to find this scarce Little Gull at Durleigh reservoir today... only the 3rd time I've ever seen one! 😍
Spent an hour watching it hunt by diving into the water for bugs etc, it looks and behaves more like a Tern than a Gull! 😁😍🐦

Ever wonder where book challenges are taking place?

This means the places meant to provide free, open access to stories, information, & ideas are being targeted the most. When public and school libraries lose books, entire communities lose opportunities for discovery, connection, & representation.

A sweet twist to this tale: when Husband started to flag our 18 year old son, who spent a childhood on & off the GOSH blood cancer ward, ran alongside his dad, in jeans and anorak, & kept him running until he saw the finish. I feel like a non-elite version of the Brownlees’ Mam.
Husband just did a marathon for Great Ormond St. They saw one of our sons through aggressive leukaemia & the other through complications of extreme prematurity. Legends. As is he, for doing it in 3h17 at his age. Nice to see London streets being pounded for good causes today.
