A lapsed Unitarian-Universalist whose values have only leaned further left as I get older. Struggling to stay sane in this Brave New World.
Emmer - most of the people in state of Minnesota do not agree with your get-over-it attitude. Nor do they agree with much of anything you say.
What is it you expect to get out of this toadying?!
Tom Emmer on the Epstein files vote: "Much ado about nothing. That was purely a political stunt by people who want to get the president."

They aren't going to drop this 'goal' of taking food away from people who need it. Of the reapplications, I wonder what percent would actually be approved again. Surely they will move the goalposts on eligibility.

The Trump admin. will require all SNAP participants to reapply, claiming an anti-fraud crackdown, though fraud is minimal and states already recertify regularly.

Mass reapplications will overwhelm offices, cause delays, and put children, seniors, and working families at risk of losing benefits.

The “optics of it”???? A “bad look”??? 🤬 Those phrases tell you everything you need to know about this administration.
What about the ethics of it? The morality of it? Irrelevant.
Mike Johnson on Republican senators raiding tax dollars for their own pockets: "The optics of it are terrible. I don't think you should do it retroactively ... for sitting lawmakers to vote themselves an ability to cash in on something like that, to me it was just a really bad look."

How long will it be before we see a Kent State style shooting. With ICE filled to the top with incompetent, trigger-happy idiots, it’s only a matter of time. 🤬🤬
This video from Portland is a metaphor for what is going on in America. ICE trying so hard to get Americans to cross a line and if they don't, dragging them across the line and violently attacking.

Minnesota winter is about to start. Northern MN has a growing season of, maybe, 3 months. Anyone have $ for a greenhouse I can share? 🤦‍♀️ Idiocy and disdain for reality has no bounds.
On Threads, the usual suspects are telling ppl about to lose SNAP benefits to just start a garden. As a gardener, I had to laugh. You need at LEAST an acre of land to feed a family of 4. Start-up costs are enormous. But yes, subsistence farming on the balcony of your rental apartment is the answer

No Kings Day, St. Paul- Lexington & West 7th. Since it was a “linear” rally no way to show the real size of the huge, noisy, smiling, cheering crowd!

There were 2 veterans in front of me here at our local (enormous) rally in St Paul MN. They had fabulous signs, and one held a flag in one hand with his Army badge on his sign with something like “I am antifa” on it. I thanked him. ❤️❤️
Wow, lots of American flags and peace . Sure doesn’t seem like people who hate America you absolute embarrassment Speaker Johnson

I was working at an independent bookstore in 1972;we listened to NPR all day long in the back room. I just now listened to the bit with Ira & Susan in a closet testing the “green flash” theory of wintergreen lifesavers. I heard that one live 😊. She was a goddess among women. ❤️
Incredible images of NPR’s Susan Stamberg, who has died at 87.

The next post has an audio story that will tell you something about her.

Seems there are still some folks out there with an active, accurate moral compass.
The Pentagon’s new media policy blocks journalists from reporting out anything that isn’t approved by Pete Hegseth.

Pentagon reporters walked out of the building rather than sign on.

The freedom of the press has never been more crucial. Kudos to these journalists for protecting it.

Keep that quote and post images Sunday morning of the “small and violent group.”
This isn’t about ‘hating America.’ It’s about standing up to Trump’s authoritarian regime. That’s what loving America actually looks like.
Emmer: "We call it the 'Hate America' rally because you'll see the hate for America all over this thing when they show up. The rumor is that they can't end this shutdown because this small but very violent and vocal group is the only one that's happy about this."

Everything the cheeto does is transactional.
Everything is for sale.
1. Nations that have bestowed lavish gifts to President Trump — or enriched Trump and his family by striking business deals with Trump-connected companies — have later received extraordinary benefits from the Trump administration.

He’s going to take credit for this, long and loudly and wrongly forever. 🤬
There were at least two ceasefires under Biden! In which more than five times as many living Israeli hostages were released in exchange for 240 Palestinians! Has everyone forgotten this?
Also, ceasefires have happened under prior Presidents! The day he gets Palestine their own country he can be told he's the most special boy deserving of a shiny prize.

I have a postcard from SF with the entire poem on it. It used to be stuck to my office wall… nearly 20 years ago. I still have it.

Whose sages are silenced
and whose bigots haunt the airwaves”
