Digging into the Mars Excursion Module crewed Mars lander for General Electric's 1967 Nuclear-Electric Propulsion Mars mission study.

Funny thing - they describe the MEM in some detail, then add a note to the effect that it won't work because Mariner IV found the martian atmosphere to be too thin.

I know I haven't posted much recently but the IVA space for the Boring Crew Services Starliner for #KSP is now almost done!

I had the pleasure of designing the dust jacket for @aptshadow.bsky.social's 'Alien Clay', a book I had actually read and adored BEFORE I received the job offer!

Keep an eye out when this Subterranean Press edition comes out; more illustrations by an amazing artist within...

Not Mariner Jupiter-Saturn, the Grand Tour replacement, which became our Voyagers 1 and 2 - rather, a proposed advanced spacecraft for exploring Mars, Venus, and (potentially) beyond, which became Vikings 1 and 2.

I took a deep dive into the history of the Bird-Jones telescope and found out there are three inventors involved, but one of their names is missing. So, I made a documentary out of it:

From last nights session, IC 2118 Witch Head Nebula. This was taken with my Redcat 51. It's made up of a stack of 39 x 300s exposures. I took a total of 60 but there were a LOT of bad frames. Too many things in the sky unfortunately. #astrophotography #ic2118 #witchhead #nebula #photography

Early U.S. Mars rover planning owed much to the Soviet Union's claims, after it lost the Moon race, that it would explore the Solar System using robotic rovers and sample returners.

Got a cool hat on my trip to Florida.

I’m not sure what time period it’s from, but I don’t think there was a big gap between GD selling Atlas to Martin, and Martin merging with Lockheed.

Here's the current lineup of engines for the ksp long march mod, a couple more options are on the way but I think it's a really good selection so far and is definitely enough to make Long March 2 derived vehicles
