WE WON. I am *begging* you to take note of who did this. *Not* UCLA admin—they’re still scuttling around behind closed doors, attempting to appease—but FACULTY AND STAFF, led by AAUP.
BREAKING: In AAUP et al v. Trump (wall-to-wall union lawsuit challenging the administration’s unlawful use of TItle VI to reshape the University of California system), the faculty and staff of the UC system WON!!!

We were granted our preliminary injunction! @aaup.org

I appreciate @benschneer.bsky.social and HKS for making this very clear explanation of the problems of redistricting in Texas. Social media needs more of this.

Basically the end of August APSA eJobs check-in #polisky (8/1-8/29)

I remove non-ac positions & PhD studentships from the count & try not to miss individual listings with multiple jobs.

August 2024: 156 positions (118 open to asst. TT)

August 2025: 116 positions (82 open to asst. TT)
Halfway through August APSA eJobs check-in #polisky (8/1-8/14):

August 2024: 65 positions (51 assistant TT positions)

August 2025: 51 positions (38 assistant TT positions)

It's interesting that the ratio of positions seems stable, but the overall number of positions available is down
End of the month APSA eJobs update #polisky (there may be a few others listed today, will add later)

July 2024: 93 positions (62 assistant TT positions)

July 2025: 58 positions (40 assistant TT positions)

I exclude non-academic positions / PhD studentships from the total count.

Can this be true? Amazing!
The Chiefs have won more regular season away games in the last nine NFL seasons (57) than the Cleveland Browns have won since their return to the NFL in the 1999 season (56).

Would Canada or France like to buy a satellite? Probably not going to happen but a budgeter can dream.
When Newt Gingrich cut Congressional staff to prevent them from finding new problems to address, at least he was able to claim this is a cost saving maneuver.
What do the American taxpayers gain by destroying this satellite?

Signatories include Steven Levitsky, Dani Rodrik, Ryan Enos, Theda Skocpol, and Steven Walt.

Someone forwarded it to me. Read it here:

The federal government threatening state and local election officials is a vulnerability to US elections. States need to push back against the DOJ involvement in these investigations unless there is *credible and substantiated* evidence of fraud.

A ruling out of the 8th Circuit today cut off the ability of voters in a large swath of the middle of the country to enforce their rights against race discrimination in voting under the Voting Rights Act. This is deeply problematic. Here's why. (1/3)
