Whoa. When asked if he's violating a SCOTUS order, Trump claims lawyers, not he, are making the decision to defy it.

First, Trump isn't the decision maker? Second, he's throwing the lawyers under the bus? Third:

They are all full of shit and Kilmar Abrego Garcia should be home.

Now why would he do that, I wonder? Could it possibly be that he wants to remake Hitler’s reputation, as actually being a good guy, a guy to admire? Hmm.
The Trump administration has begun firing appointees to the board that oversees the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum.

Many native-born American immigration lawyers have received official letters from the government demanding that they self-deport. Apparently DHS used a list of aliens including many who listed their attorneys’ contact info by way of a care-of address.

The country’s in the very best of hands.
Mass. attorney says DHS told her to self-deport, despite U.S. citizenship
Anyone can imagine the U.S. born Nicole Macheroni's surprise when she says she received an emailed letter from the Department of Homeland Security, telling her to self-deport within 7 days.

What do these corporations have in common?

Netflix
Ford
Tesla
T-Mobile
Duke Energy
DISH Network
Metlife
Dominion Energy
United States Steel

In recent years, they all paid their execs more than they paid in taxes.

This is what a corporate-rigged system looks like.

DOGE abruptly cut a program called Charting My Path for Future Success—a research-based effort that helped teens with disabilities transition from high school into college, work, and independent living. Now it’s gone without explanation.

Every college and university should do this to remind Americans that attacks on these institutions are actually attacks on all of us.
Harvard redid its whole homepage to push back against the administration’s demands. I mean, this is just a website but I think it’s kind of a great PR move: www.harvard.edu

Call US Rep Valerie Foushee. Tell her you want her to join the Courage Caucus and to vote no on any budget that hands control to Trump and Musk. Encourage her to take strong stands!

Government funding runs out on March 14. Republicans can’t pass a bill alone, so Democrats have real leverage here. We’re calling on Democrats to commit to withholding their votes and insist on an end to the Trump-Musk coup rampaging across the government.

What the actual *?! The White House has designated Mr. Musk’s office, the United States DOGE Service, as an entity protected from public records requests and most judicial intervention until at least 2034, by classifying its documents as presidential records.

A strong example: "Governor Kate Brown of Oregon granted clemency to all 17 inmates on the state’s death row in 2022, commuting their sentences to life without possibility of parole. She also granted more than 47,000 pardons for minor marijuana offenses during her time in office." #clemency #ncpol

Amazon organizing group in Garner, NC filed for a union election today. If successful, the RDU1 warehouse would be the company’s second unionized facility.

The NLRB will now review workers’ signed authorization cards and call an election if 30% of workforce signed them.

Here's to their success!
Breaking: Amazon's RDU1 warehouse in Garner has filed for a union election. If successful, it would be the 2nd unionized Amazon warehouse in the country. The first, Staten Island's JFK8, voted to unionize in 2022. @lenarosegeller.bsky.social has followed the effort from the beginning. Thread below.

This!
I like to say I respect despair as an emotion but not an analysis. As an analysis it assumes we know what can and can't happen, and the future is both uncertain and at least to some extent what we make of it. Plus why would I give them what they want, as premature surrender? Thanks Senator Schatz.
Be furious be angry but despondency is what they want from us. And be very suspicious of people on the left who say “we are cooked” or whatever. Imagine the civil rights movement, or suffrage, or any movement for change, hitting a roadblock and just “saying well we are well and truly fucked now.”
December 21, 2024 at 7:54 PM
They can’t credibly claim they “didn’t know.”
Elon Musk and JD Vance publicly supporting the neo-Nazis of Germany's AfD, just as an AfD supporter/Elon Musk fan kills 5 and injures 100+ in a terrorist attack at a Christmas market in Germany. Vance's pro-AfD statement came *after* the attack.
It's bad. Not sure what else to say. Dark times ahead.

True. Full-fledged fascism doesn’t happen overnight. It results from very specific , strategic ala carte fascist measures, layer after layer after layer. Until it’s fully entrenched. Recognize any (or all) of these measures now?
