HS English teacher, love all things pop culture, here for the good vibes.
I’ve seen a few people reposting and commenting on this and just generally making fun of him but more specifically…a TON of services are now digital and you can reserve a spot before you show up and…it’s just massively upgraded since even the 2010s. Like it’s a flatly inaccurate observation.
Guy who has never set foot in an American DMV: they haven’t even been updated since the 1970s

Netflix just endlessly bad at live streaming. Lions broadcast didn’t even pop up after cowboys ended I had to search for them. Clown show stuff. And while I’m full of Christmas cheer this ridiculous opening of players tackling presents is dumb even for a football promo.

What an effort from Reed there after a rough night. Feels like the Lions got some swagger back tonight despite an imperfect game. Hope branch is ok.

In our house the canonical story of the elf on the shelf is that she arrives on thanksgiving and she was cast out of the North Pole just like Satan in Paradise Lost which is why as a fallen elf she so freely makes deez nutz jokes and whatnot when she delivers her holiday treats. (My kids are in HS)

The number of educators who not only don't understand this but seem hell-bent on ignoring the reality because AI is "the future" should concern anyone with kids at any level of education. It has just been taken for granted that kids "have to learn how to use this" and very few are pushing back.
Relying on ChatGPT to teach you about a topic leaves you with shallower knowledge than Googling and reading about it, according to new research that compared what more than 10,000 people knew after using one method or the other.

You're all welcome at my Gales of November/Circulatory System in the Kitchen themed party which one assumes will rage until all hours but actually ends abruptly at 7 pm. As you can imagine the cooks all ran off so bring your own snacks...
Happy There Is A Circulatory System Walking Through The Kitchen Day to all who celebrate.

One thing I never saw anyone talk about with this is how desperate and bad the idea was in the first place: I was a server at Bill Knapps when they decided to "rebrand" for young people instead of old people with wrinkled coupons cut out of the newspaper as their core customer. 1/2

I'm not NOT licking toads!
what's the stupidest/randomest Simpsons quote that lives in your head rent free? Mine is the urge to say "you said go to bread" every time I am about to head to bed.

Man there is no place like Bluesky when you’re watching your team do great things. Just amplifies the good vibes. Loins feeling it right now.

Saw a post on here about Disney stock “collapsing” and it’s a chart showing like a 3-4% decline over three days. I feel like there are so many issues where people get giddy or draw wild conclusions based on zero knowledge of what they’re talking about. Learn how things work or don’t post maybe?

Experiencing events like this on social media over time, one of the problems with media/journalism maybe really boils down to this: Some media folks are not great at processing new situations effectively in real time but feel the need to comment anyway. Narratives are shaped from guessing or worse.

Really excited to talk about college football on here today and gather the tears of the “sportsball is a waste of time and also fascist because the world isn’t perfect yet” crowd in a little digital jar.

“Preeeeettty Niiice!”
Does anyone else have an MST3K line they use regularly, even if it makes no sense out of context?

Because I have both "That'll keep your panfish down for a while." and "Come come, boys, we must confound Jerry at every turn!" from MST3K the movie alone.

At the Volbeat concert at Pine Knob tonight and my #music hot take is come for the opening bands. They’re often awesome and when you’re a performer nothing is as fulfilling as a response from a crowd. Speaking of which Ghost Inside are a pretty sick band. Check them out.

This is not a massive decision or any kind of change. Costco has never carried mifepristone in its pharmacies. An anti-abortion group is taking credit for something that didn't happen, possibly to generate disingenuous left-wing ire against one of the few corporations that hasn't gone MAGA.
