Energy transitions are rarely “just” environmental. They rewire trade relationships, alter security dependencies, and create new chokepoints. Climate policy is now inseparable from geopolitics—whether governments admit it or not.

What the hell?!?!
MINNEAPOLIS: “We kept yelling ‘she’s pregnant! She’s pregnant!’ — they put their knees in her… the handcuffed woman was dragged on the ground…”

Lawless.

True
To those thinking Russia is winning in Ukraine:

Imagine if when we invaded Iraq, we were almost four years into it, only occupied 20 percent, and lost a million men.

Not a soul would call that “winning.”

Make no mistake, history will judge harshly those who go along; elected officials who can do something but refuse to.

I wrote about the glaciers. A study out today projects their future, and it is grim.
When the Glaciers Go, They Won't Come Back
Shaving every tenth of a degree off whatever final thermometer number we end up at means a few more glaciers hanging on, diminished perhaps, but a glacier still, with room to grow.

This is how a decent and good person speaks about other decent and good people who died from a tragic murder.

One reason why Republicans won't extend expiring ACA subsidies?

Koch-backed lobby groups have spent over $1.1M pressuring GOP lawmakers to let 20M Americans' health insurance costs go up.

Money in politics is the root of our dysfunction.

Climate change is not one problem—it’s a cascade. Warming alters precipitation, which shifts ecosystems, which feeds back into carbon storage and fire behavior. The system responds nonlinearly, not politely or gradually.

His deed was "his way of conveying his gratitude for staying in Australia, for being granted citizenship."

He took 5 bullets, and fears he'll lose his left arm.

Interesting and disturbing numbers
Increase in productivity since 1979: 87%

Increase in hourly pay since 1979: 32%

Just so happens that ~25% of workers were unionized in 1979. Today? 10%.

As unions declined, the super-rich have taken a larger share of wealth generated by labor. We must build back union power.

The claim collapsed because it’s a cover.

Poverty is a policy choice. Concentrated wealth is a policy choice. Inequality is a policy choice. None of it is natural or inevitable. Remember: We have the power to build a system that serves the many, not the powerful few.

Exactly, unfortunately we have a reality-tv president. He can't help himself.
Maybe someone could ask the president not to post the all-clear on mass shootings before the suspect is in custody.
