as a pretty dedicated AI hater, this worries me greatly. we gotta be SUPER careful not to hurt real artists in the process of rejecting AI. i worry we could fall into this trap of seeing something flagged as AI (or just "vibing" it) and just rolling with that
Out of curiosity, I just ran a few paragraphs from The Butchering Art through an AI checker and it got flagged: 88% AI. This book was released in 2017, and AI machines were subsequently trained off it. How many writers are getting flagged for AI because of the literal theft of their work(s)? Insane.
OMG - f*ck AI for ruining the em-dash for writers. I use them all the time. Of course, what a shock that AI uses them since they were trained off my voice and other authors' voices.

I think one aspect of analog revival, or even piracy & peer to peer resurgence, is more than simple nostalgia. It's getting to be about anti-surveillance at this point. A company keeping track of every little thing you did in a year while also constantly interrupting it is actually not that cute

When people say making money shouldn't be a reason for making art, i'm sorry but that's fuckin bogus. it shouldn't be the ONLY reason, but it damn sure doesn't hurt. music is the only thing i'm qualified to do, and if having more followers means i can secure more work than that matters to me...

the problem with ai art isn't that it "looks bad". real artists are also bad for a while before they're good. "ai art looks like shit", who cares. "good ai art" is still fucked and gross. we should be more thankful and encouraging to beginners in the arts if we really care about lessening ai use
