We really need to get over LLM can sound pretty empathetic, sometimes more so than the average human. Look at Meta’s empathetic dialogues dataset. It’s not hard to go superhuman in this domain.

Please don't frame the DeepSeek story as an arms race between the US and China. The real story here is a team in China building on openly-available research from the US and returning the favour by publishing openly. This is a win-win situation, not a lose-lose arms race.
