So THEREFORE we just retconned and we’re like “oh you died then, anyway” like really sucked the air outta the whole thing for me. That and the main campaign I was in was like… kinda linear political intrigue, at least it felt linear

Idk I was thinking like “oh this’ll be a cool way for my character to die” but nope. I tried to die in an epic way and the game was just so unbalanced in my favour that I couldn’t and it was, to put it lightly, fucking lame. I had to say directly afterwards that I actually wanted to die from that…

This killed the big scary evil lich, as he was on his last few HP. I however was somehow barely hurt. I sat in the lava taking damage for several rounds before my party members flew down (cause they all had some… spell or feat or something that gave them wings, idk) and grabbed me.

I guess it felt more like the DM was pantomiming the idea of the combats being a challenge at me? Like, fighting the final boss of tomb of annihilation, I grabbed the final boss and pulled him over the edge of this platform throwing the both of us into the lava.

I think for me the association with old comics/RPGs might be why I find it so comfy.
