ODOT sending out mailers about their ADA curb ramp work in the n'hood. As far as I can tell, this only pertains to *closing* crosswalks around me - no rebuilding

Funnily enough, their justification for closing these crosswalks relies on redirecting to the SE 9th overpass which is NOT ADA compliant.

I bet if SE 12th between the rail line and Division was completely pedestrianized the old Virtuous Pie location wouldn’t be sitting empty for, what is now, 7 months

It's 2025. I've paid DMAchoice and outoutprescreen to stop sending me junk. I use a paid email alias service to avoid giving out my real email address

I only purchase the occasional thing online as a guest, without creating an account

The "sign up to subscribe!" is checked by default. I uncheck it

portland's lack of serious transportation alternatives is never more apparent than when trying to figure out how to move 9 visiting people around town for holiday plans

1 hr bus ride to go 4 mi. out of inner SE vs. 15 min. in a car

40 min. bus ride (incl. 1 transfer) to go 3mi. to ~Laurelhurst

if the sriracha flavored peas weren't meant to be poured into my gaping maw like a soda, then why do they come in a tin can perfectly shaped for it

the fact that we went through a pandemic's worth of WFH time and people still can't get their home a/v setups working properly..

Trains with a similar profile also hunt for prey
An engineer wanted to make a quiet high-speed train. “The question then occurred to me — is there some living thing that manages sudden changes in air resistance as a part of daily life?” The answer: the kingfisher. See my story today for more tales of bioinspiration. Gift link: nyti.ms/4otNQyl

Getting a freight train blocking in SE late at night actually makes getting around a bit easier as a biker/ped

There’s like a few blocks that are car free, if they weren’t there to begin with

I think we’re close to something big here

If someone’s idiotic, stupid, ugly truck is too big to comfortably fit in the parking lane, @pbotinfo.bsky.social traffic enforcement should be allowed to explode it onsite with a rocket launcher, no questions asked
