Someone much smarter than I should probably compare this to the rollout and adoption of video for online news sources. A story where the impacts and buy in where plainly overstated to force organizations to pivot to a new media, only to have their user engagement disappear.

I love that I just got an email from the company in charge of my 401k citing the potential collapse of Social Security as a reason to increase my payments into the savings the day the dow drops like 2000 points. Living through unprecedented times is fucking tight.
