I find it funny that this concept is so inconceivable to many that they default to using examples where the cartoon lady is still conventionally attractive and the guy is just a generic shlub.
To ACTUALLY do this the guy needs to be Chris Hemsworth-tier and the girl should look like Rocko.

Sappy as it may be: make friends, not followers. People who care about YOU and not just your art will follow you in any trend, any space, any time. You obviously can't be friends with everyone, but having a core group of people to lean on is important in and out of the art world.
