A Sharon Begley byline, almost 5 years after her death.

Upon hearing the news James Watson had died, a STAT reporter said in our Slack, "I wish I could read what Sharon would have written."

Incredible news: Sharon in fact did pre-write a Watson obit. And it is masterful and excoriating.

My son's thesis research was published this week. Sometimes research takes you to unexpected places. From quantum photonics research he emerged with findings about ocean water dynamics like tsunamis. Pretty cool. phys.org/news/2025-10...

One of the greatest stresses is trying to find UBC PhD exam chairs for August vacation season. Nearly impossible. In the future I will just tell the students August is a no go. Ugh.
