Great win Ags. Don't ever do that again, my heart can't handle it.

It's a good day when a tree felling goes according to plan. This was my biggest and trickiest one yet.

The second richest man on earth is about to be a major owner of TikTok.

The third richest man owns Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp.

The fourth richest man owns The Washington Post.

See the problem here?

My favorite weather is the summertime surprise sunshine downpour. This one came with a rainbow just a few feet away. (No pot of gold was found.)

Since we've decided as a country not to support PBS anymore, I do want to make a plug for PBS Passport the online streaming version of PBS. It's $5 a month and we've had it for 8 years now. Nova, Frontline, nature, Ken Burns, local shows, old house, masterpiece, and more are faves in this household.

Growing tomatoes is way easier in Arkansas than DFW. The plants are over 6 feet tall now.

The wx community agrees forecasts matched our scientific skill.

The end users say it wasn’t good enough.

Frustratingly, we’re dismantling the ability to improve prediction science, communication services, and partner relations.

Instead of blame or defense, we need to say: This WILL happen again.

must be incredibly frustrating and disheartening to have federal funding that was promised to you for important work suddenly and arbitrarily ripped away

A cottonmouth decided to take residence under my front door step. I like snakes, certainly more than rodents, but coming across it multiple times within a couple days I had to relocate it. It hissed at me but all is well now.

Yesterday, sadly, my NWS career came to an end. I started as a volunteer in '97 at Corpus Christi, my hometown, but worked most of it in Fort Worth. It was a great career and treated me better than I deserved. So fortunate to live out my childhood dream, but now it's time for the next chapter.

Howdy folks,
As the most of the data and tools used by the office are currently no longer available, services provided by the Office of the Texas State Climatologist will be drastically impacted to discontinued due to the laps of federal funding for the NOAA Regional Climate Centers.

Two questions. How long does a housefly live for? And why is their fountain of youth in my home?

Hmmm. Maybe it's time to load from a previous save and try again.

Today the government recognizes my official start date at the NWS. It's not really a date that means anything to me (long story) but it's now up to 25 years. Kind of cool it's on national weather person's day, though.

I can't begin to describe how nice it is to watch it snow and have absolutely no investment in what the forecast was for it.
